Modern abstract portrait lithograph by Venezuelan artist Hector Poleo. The work features a figure in profile wearing a yellow hat and matching outfit. Softly rendered in his signature, dreamy style. Editioned 72/80 in front left corner. Signed both in print and in margin in front lower right corner. Currently hung in gold frame with wide, white matting.

Artist Biography

Although Poleo injured his eyesight in his early youth, he decided to study at the Escuela de Artes Plásticas in Caracas. In 1937, he went to Mexico, where he studied and painted for three years. After visiting the United States, Ecuador, and Colombia (where he held an exhibition of his work), he returned to Venezuela in 1940. His move to New York in 1945 exposed his work to a wider audience. Poleo exhibited in Venezuela, the United States, Mexico, and Paris.
