Red toned abstract impressionist landscape by Texas artist, Richard Stout. This painting depicts a desert landscape with a mountain, caves, and various rock formations with tall ones appearing to be floating above the ground. Signed and dated by the artist at the bottom right. Framed in a wooden floating frame.

Artist Biography

Richard Stout was born in Beaumont, Texas in 1934. He showed an interest in art at an early age. Stout studied at the Art Academy of Cincinnati. He completed graduate school at the University of Texas at Austin. He was an instructor at the Museum of Fine Arts Houston, later he started teaching at the University of Houston where he retired in 1996. Stout was named Texas Artist of the year in 2004 and in 2010 he received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Center for the Advancement and Study of Early Texas Art (CASETA). He now lives in Houston, Texas.
