The artist of the works are George Wolfgang Knorr, the engraver is Andreas Hoffer. Engraving has the date 1769 that is most likely the original publishing date for this edition.

Artist Biography

George Wolfgang Knorr, born in 1705 died in 1761, was a German paleontologist as well as a painter, draftsman, engraver, collector & art dealer. He began engraving at the age of 18, working with Martin Tyroff on illustrations for the Physica Sacra. Later, Knorr went on to publish several scientific works from Nuremberg, all distinguished for their beautiful hand colored prints.
