Artist Biography

Houston-based artist David McGee was born in Louisiana, grew up in Detroit, and moved to Texas to study at Prairie View A&M University. His work draws on his interests in poetry, history painting, politics, race, class, pop culture, and their intersections. Ranging from the figurative to the abstract, McGee’s paintings, drawings, and prints can be found in collections across the nation, including the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston; the Dallas Museum of Art; the Menil Collection; and the Museum of Arts, Boston.
