Modern abstract red, orange, and black landscape painting by Houston artist Jim Rabby. The work features a thick layer of paint in an impasto style, creating a sense of dimension. Signed in front lower right corner. Currently hung in a decorative dark wood frame.

Artist Biography

Jim Rabby is a native of Houston, Texas. He had polio as a child and while he was in Shrine Hospital he was given art supplies after expressing his interest in art. He has been painting since the 1960’s. He lived in Santa Fe in mid 1980’s where he worked as an artist. He is known for his loose impressionist style similar to known artist like Vincent Van Gogh and Claude Monet. He uses oils and applies them to a handmade canvas using a palette knife which creates an interesting layered and textured piece.
