Large scale painting of a gallery space of a selection of the artist's own work in the style of Mark Rothko's color field paintings. This piece is part of a series that the artist did exploring her own paintings in relation the galleries they were shown in. The rich toned colors pop against the white background of the gallery. Signed, titled, and dated on the back. Currently unframed, but options are available.

Artist Biography

Karen Lastre was born in St. Paul, MN in 1940. She moved to Texas in 1965 where she began to work as a painter in 1969. She has been influenced by the color field abstract expressionist works like Mark Rothko. Her work has been purchased by private collectors throughout the United States and Europe. In 1994 she was a Merit Award at the Cheekwood Museum of Art in Nashville. She worked in a studio in Mid-Town at Art Square Studios. She showed her work in Dallas at the Mary Tomas Gallery where she had an individual show in 2011. She has recently passed in 2018.
