Artist Biography

Julia Rossel works at TNT Shirt Company in Montrose (Houston, Texas) as a graphic designer and direct to garment printer operator. She lives and makes art in Second ward, close to the University of Houston Campus where she is earning a BFA in Sculpture. While sculpture is her main focus, it coexists with other mediums in her arsenal such as: Film / Digital Photography, Collage, Welding, Textiles and Video. This concoction results in a diverse mixed media body of work focused on monumentalizing personal landmarks. Julia stores these memories in amber, fossilizes them for future self. The effectiveness of her art lies not only in the labor put into each piece, but in the striking visual experience that is the outcome of lovingly, painstakingly crafted work. Her hand is unmistakable, it is present and alive in every detail.
