Beautifully detailed Spanish realist painting of a musician serenading a well dressed group that includes two women and a male figure. Signed and dated in lower right corner. Titled and dated on the back. Hung in an ornate gold frame.

Born in Barcelona in 1844, Victoria Condina y Langlin was a pupil of Manuel Ferran and the Llotja school in Barcelona. He made the ornamental sculptural decoration for the University of Barcelona buildings. He resided in Paris (approximately since 1869), where during the siege of 1871 he turned to painting. In London, where he settled permanently in 1877, he made murals in large hotels (Continental, Metropole, Great Central), theaters (Empire, Trocadero, Adelph), churches (Brompton, Oratory) and palaces (Rothschild, Somerset). In Barcelona he painted in fresco the vault of the transept of the church of La Mercè (1888), destroyed in 1936. He also designed tapestries, especially for the Royal Windsor factory, and collaborated with furniture makers. He passed away in London in 1911.
